NVGP Friday

Friday was a good day. I woke up early, met up with Tim and Cuban, and went to the Nature Valley GP St. Paul time trial. He got some pretty sweet pain face pics, so I'll try to get a couple up here later.

The course had a steep hill that was just over 1 km long. There was also a strong headwind, maybe 20 mph sustained, blowing into the racer's faces as they entered the final couple hundred feet.

It was pretty awesome to see these guys push themselves up a hill that I regularly struggle on. It wasn't easy for them, either.

Oh, there were a couple guys TTing on fixed gears. That was pretty cool.

I also went to the Minneapolis Crit last night. It was probably the most energetic racing crowd I have ever been in. It was really cool seeing cyclists of all types gathering to watch road racing. That offsets some of the animosity I thought I was sensing between urban cyclists and roadies.

Today is the Mankato crit. I debated going down for the 4/5 race, but the rooftop Cat6 party last night changed that. I'll ride to Stillwater tomorrow and watch the end of the NVGP.
