Ride to work this morning sucked. I got on the road a few minutes before 7:00 am; air temperature was below zero. It was mostly my frozen face that made it tough. I had a balaclava on, but the condensation from my breath froze and made it feel like I was rubbing snow in my face the entire time. The ride was slow, too. My sub-40 minute commute took more like 50-55 minutes. Studs on packed snow and sloppy road are slow no matter what way you look at it.
The way back was a different story. It was 25 degrees warmer. No wind. Few cars. I ended up throwing an extra 3-4 miles on at the end. I think I will drive if it's below 10. That was what I did last year, and I think I'll continue with that.
