Raced the Corcoran CX today.
The course was pretty difficult. There were 3 or 4 loose gravel corners that scared me.
I bit it not once, but twice, by clipping a pedal on grassy, off-camber 180s. I can't be leaning and pedaling through that stuff. Those cost me a few positions.
A 45 minute race is a lot harder than a 30 minute race. Cat 3s are a lot faster than Cat 4s. Well I shouldn't say that, but there are a lot more fast people in the 3s than the 4s. Instead of having one or two guys at a comparable pace, most of the field is. Make for much more challenging racing. I finished 18th of 52. Disappointing.
Proper post-race nutrition and a cooldown is good. I skimped on these today, and feel like crap because of it. I am super stiff and don't want to ride a bike tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, I am secretly hoping for a hard, cold, rain. Give me mud and hills, and I'll be happy. (I will probably regret saying that later).
